Im Märzen der Bauer die Rösslein anspannt.		In March the farmer harnesses the horses.
Er setz seine Felder und Wiesen instand.		He prepares his fields and the meadows.
Er pflüget den Boden er egget und sät		He plows and tills the soil and sows.
und rührt seine Hände frühmorgens und spät.		He works from early morning until late at night.

Die Bäuerin, die Mägde sie dürfen nicht ruh´n.		The farmer's wife, the maids, they may not rest.
Sie haben im Haus und im Garten zu tun.		They are busy in the house and garden.
Sie graben und rechen und singen ein Lied		They dig and rake and sing a song
und freu´n sich, wenn alles schön grünet und blüht.		and rejoice when everything grows green and blooms beautifuly.

So geht unter Arbeit das Frühjahr vorbei.		That is how the spring passes working.
Dann erntet der Bauer das duftende Heu.		Then the farmer reaps the fragrant hay.
Er mäht das Getreide, dann drischt er es aus.		He cuts the grain, then he thrashes it.
Im Winter da gibt es manch herrlichen Schmaus.		In winter there will be some wonderful feasts.
